Why Golpo exists
A story carried forward.
From the hands that create, to the woman who makes it her own.
Before Golpo, there were Pishis, Mashis and Thammas whose gifted hands could paint, stitch and turn the simplest cloth into something unforgettable. Their artistry lived within homes and families, while the dream of a name of their own often remained unspoken.
Beyond them are countless artisans whose patient work still reaches the world for far less than its true worth. Golpo is our way of seeing those hands, valuing their craft and carrying their story forward.
Rooted in Bengal’s handloom traditions, we bring together hand painting, kantha, khadi, stitch and quiet details—not to preserve the saree behind glass, but to place it inside the life of today’s woman.
Every Golpo joins two stories: the hand that creates it, and the woman who makes it her own.
The Golpo woman
Classic. Fresh. Entirely her own.
She may be a young girl choosing her first saree, or a woman finding her way back to one. Golpo is not defined by age. It is defined by the way she makes the classic her own.
She chooses simplicity, but never sameness: a crisp shirt, an unexpected blouse, silver, sneakers, or simply the attitude with which she carries it.
She does not save a beautiful saree only for an occasion. She takes it to work, lunch, Pujo, a rainy afternoon, or wherever life is happening.
She is not following a trend. She creates freshness by wearing the timeless with confidence, style and a little attitude.

The making of a Golpo
Made slowly. Kept individual.
Where cloth, craft and the human hand meet.
A Golpo begins with cloth that already carries character: the softness of mul, the earthiness of khadi, the gentle sheen of cotton silk and weaves rooted in Bengal’s handloom tradition.
Then comes the hand. A brush leaves colour upon the fabric. Thread travels slowly through it. Booti, stripe, stitch and small details give each saree its own rhythm.
The slight variations are not flaws to be hidden. They are the quiet signatures of handmade work, proof that a person, not a machine, was present in its making.
Rooted in BengalMost Golpo sarees begin with Bengal’s weaving traditions. Our first hand-painted Kota sarees are cherished exceptions, chosen for their lightness and beauty as canvases for original art.

On quiet waters, little Bappa rests upon a lotus leaf before the lights, fragrance and love of the festivities call him home.

Pure Dhaniakhali cotton becomes Abhik’s canvas for Bal Ganesh, lotus flowers, leaves and gentle water. Natural variations in its weave and brushwork belong to this one-of-one original.

Shiber Shongshar is a story of being held. Shiva holds Parvati and little Ganu close, while Nandi carries them all. Against the deep black of the Khadi, the family rests as one—peaceful, protected and complete.

Abhik’s original composition brings crescent moon, trishul and warm colour to naturally textured Khadi. Hand-painted golden trishul motifs follow the border, framed by its silver edge.

Before mul reaches a wardrobe, it begins in the measured rhythm of a loom.
Bitulda weaves in the interiors of West Bengal. For weaving one saree, he receives ₹100.
Golpo cannot rewrite that story in a day. But we can begin by speaking his name, honouring the cloth, and allowing the hands behind it to be seen.
